Youth, peace and security is the UN Security Council’s resolution which was adopted in December 2015, which underlines the positive effect that young people have as actors in society. The resolution Youth, Peace and Security (number 2250) is particularly exceptional from a Finnish perspective, as the resolution has its roots in a Finnish civil society initiative.
The resolution 2250 sees young people as positive actors of change and one of the central aims of the resolution is to bring young people into all levels of decision making and advance the participation of youth in for example peace processes.
The resolution is one way to answer the challenges or radicalization during an era when there are more young people in the world than ever before. In 2016 in Finland a network for civil society, the 2250-network was founded, which aims to advance the implementation of the resolution in Finland.
